Is it better to ask for wisdom rather than riches?

What appearance in a dream did Solomon see soon after his father died? God asked him what he should give him. 1 Kings 3:2–15.What did Solomon choose? Wisdom to govern his people well. What did God promise to give him that he had not asked for? Riches and honor.

King Solomon was the richest human being that ever lived on earth. His kingdom reign was generally a peaceful reign and his father was King David. Solomon built the Lord’s Temple on Mt. Moriah in Jerusalem. Today The Mohammedan mosque of Omar sits on that same spot.

Solomon’s reign ended poorly due to Idolatry, through the influence of his wives. 1 Kings 11:1–10.

Lessons: Instead of asking for wealth ask for God’s wisdom, knowledge and understanding. His wisdom is not human thinking because God’s ways and his thoughts are not the same as human beings. God wants us to understand the human condition so we can forgive one another and help each other survive this earthly life. God wants to reveal his perfect plan for your life on earth. His plan is for you to embrace Jesus and to mirror everything about Jesus through the example he gave to us during the brief time of his earthly presence.

Proverbs 4:5-9 Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding! Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.”Do not forsake her, and she will guard you;Love her, and she will watch over you.

“The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding. “Prize her, and she will exalt you; She will honor you if you embrace her.” She will place on your head a garland of grace; She will present you with a crown of beauty.”

Who is wisdom? Why know Jesus? To receive understanding, to know the truth and to receive eternal life.

Riches: God already has dispersed his wealth throughout the world. Do not be fooled by those who are very rich. The majority of these are those who do not have a relationship with Jesus and therefore do not do what is right with the wealth they received. The followers of Christ are the richest people on earth.

They store their wealth in heaven where moth and rust cannot destroy. Their wealth is given to them by living according to the laws and commands written in the Bible. If you are a righteous mother or father or a prayer warrior, for example, then trust me you are very rich.

Our mansion in heaven will never need protection against the elements or intruders. Our doors will have no need for locks. Some of us will have smaller mansions in heaven because some of us stop doing the work of sharing God’s love and his plan otherwise known as The Gospel.

The Gospel:

Jesus died for our sin debt, was buried with our sins and rose from the grave to bring us eternal life to all who BELIEVE that Jesus is God!!!Pray for wisdom from above today, avoid thinking about how to become rich. Instead, realize that with Jesus you are the richest person on earth.
