What Will Heaven Be Like?

The Book of Revelation tells us more about heaven than any other book in the Bible. A good place to start is to read chapters 21 and 22.

God’s Presence “Now the dwelling of God is with men [i.e. people], and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.” – –Revelation 21:3

God’s presence is the most attractive thing about heaven. In heaven we will know and experience God more wonderfully than has ever been possible on earth. Our sight of God will be totally unclouded: “They will see his face.” Revelation 22:4

What is Absent in Heaven?

• Tears: Revelation 21:4• Death: Revelation 21:4• Mourning: Revelation 21:4• Crying: Revelation 21:4• Pain: Revelation 21:4• The Temple: Revelation 21:22• The sun and the moon: Revelation 21:23

In heaven God will not only remove our tears, but remove the causes of our tears:

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” Revelation 21:4 God’s presence is so immediate and overwhelming that the Temple is no longer needed in heaven: “I did not see a Temple in [heaven] because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its Temple.”

Revelation 21:22 God’s light illuminates heaven: “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.”

Revelation 21:23 Who is Allowed into Heaven and Who is Barred? People who are allowed into heaven: Those who have put their trust in Jesus, who have had their spiritual thirst quenched by the love and forgiveness of Jesus: “To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.” Revelation 21:6

Those who have had their sins forgiven—“whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” Revelation 21:27

People who are barred from heaven: Those who decide that they do not want to live in God’s presence. “Nothing impure will ever enter [heaven], nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful.” Revelation 21:27

From Pastor Ross:

The choice is yours and there is only one decision that you’ll ever make that will determine how you will spend your life in eternity. You might say, I’ll wait and see because I want to do whatever I feel like doing. This decision is totally okay, but, the consequences of this decision are devastating.

Think about total isolation from God and his people and total submersion into a place of perpetual torment that will never cease. You might say, I’m going to trust and believe in the Lord Jesus and begin to follow him by reading the Bible daily, praying daily and obeying his laws and commands.

In making this decision you now have become sealed forever in God’s Holy Spirit, the Spirit that is shared by Father God and Jesus who are co-heirs and co-equal in heaven. Now you are entitled to 24/7/365 love, protection, joy, peace, righteousness, over 40,000 bible promises, constant self renewal, increased wisdom, knowledge and understanding – all from God’s perfect mind, not from humans.

Trust God, make the right decision now because when Jesus returns he will come like a thief in the night and those who are not ready will face eternal judgment and then eternity outside of the sovereign ruler of the universe and the one whom through all things both visible and invisible were created, the Lord Jesus!
