“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man or woman availeth much”
Have you ever met someone that sat you down so he or she could pray for you? My favorite professor, Prosperly, would always ask me to join him after our Missions class while I was pursuing my MDiv.
When we entered his office he would ask me a few questions, gauge my mood and ask how I was feeling and then begin to pray for me.
What he did over the course of the next four years was make a disciple of me according to the Great Commission.
Prosperly was a phenomenal listener. It was never about him, it was always about me during our times spent praying together. He taught me how to pray and I have since provided pray for my family, especially for my wife who is very busy in her career.
Whose got your back? Whose going to be there for you when you need support, companionship and mentoring? Is it someone you can trust?
Find your Jonathan, like King David found. Jonathan, the son of evil King Saul, formed a solid bond with King David.
It is all about our relationships in this life. Choose your friends wisely for it is written, He who makes friends with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.
